The Fish
We can possibly encounter dozens of different species on any given day depending on the season and fishery. More common fish family examples would be: Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon, Sharks, Barracudas, Snappers, Groupers, Cowfish, Jacks, and many more.
The Captain
I am Capt. John Hoover, a lifelong Floridian and have been fishing in the Lower Florida Keys for 15 years now. I am a full-time year round fishing guide.From the shallow flats to deep offshore and everywhere in between, the diversity of the ecosystem is truly incredible. Let me show you the natural beauty and angling opportunity that abounds in the nearshore waters off Key West. I am on the water over 300 days a year and keep my fingers on the pulse of the fisheries. I am grateful everyday to continue to share this wonderful ecosystem with others,
The Birds
The Key West National Wildlife Refuge, The Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge, and the Marquesas Wildlife Management Area are our main areas of operation. These are incredibly fertile regions for many residential bird species and a plethora of migratory visitors as well. Some bird species we might encounter are: Herons, Egrets, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Magnificent Frigate, Pelican(both brown and white), cormorant, white-crowned pigeon, and many many more.
The Boat
A 16 ft. Flats and Bay skiff powered by a brand new 2022 Suzuki 90HP motor. The perfect tool for effectively exploring the inshore waters. 2 Passengers max unless previously discussed.
Trip Lengths and Rates
We offer half day(4 hours), 3/4 day(6 hours) and Full day(8 hours) trips and are priced as follows:
4 hour trip: 500$
6 hour trip: 650$
8 hour trip: 800$
8 hour Marquesas Keys trip: 900$
Half day trips are recommended for general fishing and sightseeing. Full day trips are recommend for specific target fish.
